Some more kayaking

Another day of kayaking with Mr Crombie, this time on the Perthshire Garry and the Upper Tummel. Both rivers are very different, the Garry flows through a very impressive gorge below the Pass of Killiecrankie, the pass is renowned for its outstanding beauty and natural history. It has been gouged into the landscape by successive ice ages and meltwaters. The River Garry flows at the bottom of the Pass, while ancient mixed woodlands dominate the sides. Located 3 miles north of Pitlochry the site is owned and managed by The National Trust for Scotland. The Tummel The scenery throughout this reach is most picturesque, culminating at the point above the eastern extremity of the loch, known as the 'Queen's View'. The river flows through some remote woodland and is probably the quietest river I have ever paddled.

The Upper Braan

With lots of water around we were spoilt for choice with rivers so we headed to the Braan Gorge, however it was to high so decided to do the upper. A good trip all round.

Staff Training 2011

So the season has started, the new staff have arrived and I have been busy training them for the up and coming year. We started with a ducky trip down the Tay and then spent a day on the bikes, looking at mountain bike skills in the morning and then a little 10 mile ride in the afternoon.

A little bit of fun on a wee burn. The upper bit is used commercially but the lower bit isn't and we found out why! There is an upper upper bit with a 4 km walk in but we shall save that for another day, but watch this space.

So we have been up here for a few days and are starting to settle in, after a crazy journey up we are starting to relax and get in to the Scottish way of life and take in the amazing scenery right outside our front door.
